The Year of Storms!

Sunday’s Monday

This has been a year for storms of all sorts. There are the natural storms of weather as well as spiritual storms of good and evil along with internal storms of confusion, denial, and fear. The first thing that comes to my mind when I hear the word storm, is the fear that I learned as a small child. We lived in a house with a rug over a concrete floor and mom would make us get up on the bed during ever storm to keep us from being electrocuted by lightning. We were taught to fear storms at a very early age. Then much later in life we discovered the fear and deception within spiritual storms of (warfare) good versus evil. We live in human bodies which are inherently evil, however these bodies possess a spirt that is naturally good. Most all the storms we face, stem from one or both of these examples, our selfishness or our Godliness. God tells us in Psalm 107:28-30 (NLT), 28 “Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. 29 He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves.

It was and is my experience that God will help me when I cry out in my misery (no matter what it is). However, I must have a repentant heart as I confess my sin(s) to Him. God doesn’t do, deal making (as I have nothing God needs), fake promises (God knows my heart) or hidden agendas (God sees my thoughts), just a pure old broken-hearted belief that God is who He says He is and will do what He says He can do. When I make known my distress to Jesus, He is faithful to carry my plea before God as my mediator. Just as it is written in Psalm 107:30 (NLT), What a blessing was that stillness as he brought them safely into harbor! God is faithful to keep the promises He has made and taking care of His people is at the top of His list.

This is why it is so very important at this point in the storm that we (I) need to be reminded of what God is inspiring in Psalm 107:31-32 (NLT), 31 Let them praise the Lord for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them. 32 Let them exalt him publicly before the congregation and before the leaders of the nation. No matter what the future has in store, we followers of Jesus have to remember that we have the love of Jesus and are a child of the most high God which means that we are to be thankful, faithful, and loyal to Him, no matter what! Jesus is our savior, our comfort, our peace, our life and for that we are to be eternally grateful. No matter what storms this world chooses to hurl at us, God is our safe haven as it is written in Psalm 18:2 (NLT), The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.

God tells us to be faithful and diligent to adhere to Psalm 107:31-32 during any storm and the outcome shall be as is written in Psalm 107:42-43 (NLT), 42 The godly will see these things and be glad, while the wicked are struck silent. 43 Those who are wise will take all this to heart; they will see in our history the faithful love of the Lord. This is why we exist, to point all toward Jesus “in the way we live!”

My prayer comes from two scriptures, May we follow Matthew 5:16 (NLT), In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. And may it lead us to live out Psalm 150 (NLT), 1 Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heaven! 2 Praise him for his mighty works; praise his unequaled greatness! 3 Praise him with a blast of the ram’s horn; praise him with the lyre and harp! 4 Praise him with the tambourine and dancing; praise him with strings and flutes! 5 Praise him with a clash of cymbals; praise him with loud clanging cymbals. 6 Let everything that breathes sing praises to the Lord! Praise the Lord! Amen

HAVE A BLESSED WEEK BY BEING A BLESSING TO OTHERS!
