Pack it and Stack it!
God brought something to my attention this week that I’ve known about but given little thought to. It’s something my pastor has preached on forever and most every spiritual event I’ve attended has touched on, but it still slipped by me. It seemed the more I learned on the subject the less it enticed me to study it out. That is until this week when the subject came up and God named it for me. It is something we all do and don’t even know we’re doing it (or at least that’s what we tell ourselves). My prayer at this point is to have your curiosity at its peak and your mind ready to receive what is about to be said.
My subject is “Pack It and Stack It” which is something we’ve all done from an early age and continue to do today. We’ve all heard the phrase “skeletons in the closet” and this goes along the same line. Every one of us have memories both good and bad that we have chosen to pack and stack in our sub-conscience mind (our closet). We will inevitably place the memories which are pleasing and soothing on the top of the stack, leaving those less desirable on the bottom and over the years good memories press the undesirables to the lowest depts of our mind. Leaving them to mold and decay, eventually turning toxic to our very existence. Most of us have unspoken memories going back to our early childhood years and besides ourselves, only Satan and Jesus know they are there.
Proverbs 28:13 (NLT), People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy. People who have stacked tons of junk (hurt and sins) and think it’s hidden, is a fool. Satan has an inventory of our deepest secrets and he doesn’t hesitate to open a stacked memory and bring it to mind at the most inopportune time. Satan fully understands our limits to stress and he totally pushes our pride button to the max. Life becomes so befuddled and perplexed, that it’s all we can do to keep up. Every decision we make seems to go awry and the results are usually devastating which carry consequences that last for years. We can never experience true peace as long as we continue to pack and stack.
The bible also tells us in Proverbs 28:13, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy. It’s time to invite God into our stack! He will help us open up those things that we’ve had hidden from ourselves plus the world. He (God) will inspire us to not hold any back. It is important to seek spiritual help during those times that God tells us it is more than we can bare. Two spirit filled Jesus Followers can unpack more discretely and more completely than non-spiritual family, friends and gossips. Again, the bible tells us in Luke 12:2 (NLT), The time is coming when everything that is covered up will be revealed, and all that is secret will be made known to all. Is this really what we want!
Romans 3:23 (NLT), For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. If we’ve all done it (and I know we have), why is it such a big deal to unstack and unpack? One reason is, it’s never pretty, always hurtful and usually because of something we caused. Our packages are covered with mold (shame, the painful feeling arising from the consciousness of something dishonorable, improper, ridiculous, etc., done by oneself or another). Some packages have even started to decay (insecurity, lack of confidence or assurance; self-doubt) and some will even become toxic (hypocrisy, a pretense of having a virtuous character, moral or religious beliefs or principles, etc., that one does not really possess). Titus 1:16 (NLT), Such people claim they know God, but they deny him by the way they live. They are detestable and disobedient, worthless for doing anything good.
However! and this is a big HOWEVER! The bible tells us in Hebrews 10:19-22 (NLT), 19 And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. 20 By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. 21 And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, 22 let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water. We can then start the process of unstacking and unpacking all those unwanted packages which has stolen our joy, usually without us even noticing it. As it is written in 1 John 1:9 (NLT), But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.
But before we start, it is a must to understand, “this is a lifestyle and not an instant fix”! The Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 12:2 (NLT), Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Then and only then can we start appreciating the freedoms we find as God cleans out our closet.
Let us all remember, Hebrews 10:23-25 (NLT), 23 Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. 24 Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. 25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. Remembering and declaring to the world, we have help as it is written in Hebrews 2:18 (NLT), Since he himself has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to help us when we are being tested.
My prayer for you today is agreeing with Apostle Paul writings in Romans 15:13 (NLT), I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen
HAVE A BLESSED WEEK BY BEING A BLESSING TO OTHERS!
