Weekly Reading Isaiah Chapters 8-12

Focal Chapter 9

Isaiah 9:17 (NLT), July 15, 2018

Scripture focus for me: Isaiah 9:7 (NLT), His government and its peace will never end. He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity. The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will make this happen!

Why did this scripture engage me: I love the last sentence in this verse! Particularly, the passionate commitment of the Lord. In reading this, this time, I felt God ask me this question; How would you like for me to serve you with the same level of passionate commitment in which you serve me today? Enough said!

Change my life: My apologies have been sent, my shame has been washed, and my life has been changed. I have asked God to show me ways to stoke the fires of my passion and bring forth a strong and bold commitment to serve Him as He desires. I know that I am in God’s army and believe with all that’s in me that God can and will make this happen!

Prayer of gratitude and purpose: Lord; Thank you for your forgiveness of my weak passion, my complacency in commitment and my overall lack toward you. Father, I know that you can bring me out of this slump as long as I cooperate and thank you, God, for your longsuffering in growing me in your spirit. I love you Dad. Amen
